Welcome!

This site contains information for anyone interested Kyoto, Japan. It will be especially good for those who are planning to travel here for extended periods. There is information and tons of links.

Budget Accomodation
The cheapest way to stay in Kyoto (if you can't crash on your friend's floor) is to stay in a guest house. These vary in quality. Please see the following list for contact details, so please ask a lot of questions, and if possible, view the place prior to committing.

Please note that the periods mid-March to mid-May and October through November are the peak tourist seasons in Kyoto. It may be difficult to secure lodging at your first, second or even third choice of guest house. Additionally, many of the better guest houses fill up quickly with medium to long term residents who prefer the convenience and lower costs of group living over the more isolated, more expensive option of renting an apartment (mansion) in Japan.
